1. DISABLED ACCESS
Q. We cannot see how we can provide wheelchair access to our church without a huge ramp in the churchyard - has anyone any experience of overcoming this?


2. VAT ON REPAIRS
Q. We understand that we can recover v.a.t. paid on listed building repairs. How do we do this?


A1. Under the listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme a grant is payable to offset most of the vat paid on repairs and maintenance to listed buildings that are used principally as places of worship. It is non-discretionary and covers work carried out on or after the 1st April, 2001. It uses the difference between the VAT paid (normally 17.5%) and 5% to calculate the grant allowed.
